Easier way to activate licenses in Dr.Web products for Windows

March 14, 2023

Updated Dr.Web applications for Windows now use a streamlined license activation procedure and include a variety of other tweaks and upgrades.d Starting to use Dr.Web has become even easier—thanks to a unified license activation method that relies on a single user account. The new registration routine saves time and helps avoid inconsistency and ambiguity associated with license activation and use.

To keep things as simple as possible for users, all license registration steps are now performed on the Doctor Web site instead of the application's UI. The License Manager automatically directs users to the corresponding registration page. Once registration is complete, the license will be activated. With all registration actions now being conducted on the website, all aspects of license acquisition and use have become transparent and clear to customers.

If a license has already been registered, entering the serial number in the License Manager will cause it to activate automatically.

Important: under Windows XP, users still need to provide their downloaded key file—for them, the license registration method has not changed (please refer to the documentation for more details). The same applies to our customers who use legacy versions of Dr.Web.

But this is not the only innovation delivered by the update. Generating reports for Doctor Web’s technical support has become easier, while certain application dialogues and menu sections can now be accessed without switching to administrator mode. The changes affect Dr.Web 12.0 for Windows as part of Dr.Web Security Space (PC), Dr.Web 12.0 for Windows servers in Dr.Web Server Security Suite, Dr.Web 12.0 and 13.0 for Windows PCs (supportingd centralised protection) in Dr.Web Desktop Security Suite, and in the subscription-based Dr.Web Anti-virus 13.0 for Windows.

The update will be downloaded and installed automatically; however, a system reboot will be required.

Dr.Web products support a wide range of Windows versions, including those whose support has been discontinued by Microsoft (as far back as Windows XP and later releases).

If you’ve never heard about Dr.Web before, you can always try out its features and get first-hand experience with the high level of security it provides, before purchasing a license:
